The central location within Brecon town centre will improve access to students and provide better facilities, and is hoped that the move will be mutually beneficial for both Brecon’s Town Centre and the College.
Works undertaken to date include demolition and large structural penetrations to the main spine wall, including a full temporary works propping design. New floor boards have been installed throughout Watton Mount and the structural foundations and consolidation works have been completed in the Coach House building. The existing Welsh slate roof has been removed with the slates cleaned ready for re-use and structural timbers have been replaced on the existing Coach House roof along with new felt and batten. A steel frame extension has also been carried out on the Coach House.
Proposed usage for Watton Mount includes information technology and a hair & beauty teaching area. The Coach House will be used for a real-world teaching/training environment commercial hair and beauty salon.
Works are due to be completed towards the end of Summer 2024.
