We are delighted to welcome back Gordon Brown MCIOB, CEnv to the Constructing Excellence in Wales community.
Gordon will be leading the reinvigoration of the Exemplar Programme, introducing an updated methodology, stronger legislative alignment with the Procurement Act, SPPP Act, the Building Safety Act and related frameworks, with a renewed focus on capturing, sharing and scaling best practice and innovation across the industry and beyond. The new Exemplar programme aligns more closely with these key legislative drivers and serves to strengthen the connection between government policy and on-the-ground project delivery. It serves as a robust quality assurance mechanism for clients, contractors and contracting authorities, supporting more consistent, transparent and accountable delivery practices.
With over 30 years’ experience across the built environment, energy and sustainability sectors, Gordon brings a proven track record of leadership, innovation and collaboration. As Chair of the CIOB Sustainability Advisory Panel, former Director of the Exemplar Programme and Past Chair of CIOB Wales, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the sustainability agenda in Wales and nationally. His career spans senior leadership roles in both SME and multinational organisations, alongside founding and successfully running his own sustainability consultancy. Gordon has contributed to a range of iconic and nationally significant projects, including the Senedd, EV and infrastructure programmes, housing, refurbishment and STEM initiatives. Gordon’s depth of experience and strategic insight align strongly with Constructing Excellence in Wales’ mission to drive better outcomes for clients, contractors, communities and Wales as a whole.
