Welsh fire safety product manufacturer opens new Innovation Centre
Siderise Insulation— one of the world’s leading producers of passive fire safety solutions for buildings— has opened a new innovation centre at its South Wales headquarters in Maesteg, demonstrating its investment in the local area and commitment to advancing technical excellence in the region.
The purpose-built facility officially went live in January 2023, further extending the company’s site operations. Featuring a specialist fire test furnace, the centre will not only enable the business to conduct its own research and development and quality control testing but will also allow it to expand its bespoke solution offering, helping to develop passive fire protection systems for even the most unusual projects across the globe.
Speaking of the new facility, Chris Mort, R&D Director at Siderise Insulation commented:
“Opening the doors of our Innovation Centre marks a huge step forward for Siderise and represents a huge investment in our Maesteg head office and manufacturing site. Our core guiding principle is ‘integrity in all we do’— this means that the products we create and the services we provide are underpinned by clear research and proven results. This new facility will allow us to deliver on this promise more easily and efficiently, whilst supporting us in looking beyond current standards and practices to enable the safest future possible for our built environment. It is our hope to eventually offer out its use to the wider industry to support high fire safety standards across the sector and help to put Wales on the world map as a hub of safety innovation.”
Siderise has been creating and manufacturing acoustic, fire and thermal insulation solutions for the UK and overseas markets for over 50-years. The company moved to Maesteg in 1991, setting set up a bespoke manufacturing facility for its Siderise cavity barrier and firestopping range (formerly known as Lamatherm). The unique manufacturing and testing processes at the site has enabled the company to grow and develop its offering and seen it break into markets across the world, from Europe to the Middle East and India, and in countries across Asia Pacific.
