Wales needs a new hospital: how do we build that?
At the CE Wales Construction Summit on 15th March, we are focussing on ‘how to build a hospital?’ through an interactive workshop to help the NHS in West Wales plan and then build a brand new hospital serving Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire. Join us and answer: how do we build a new hospital?
In what is believed to be the largest ever investment in West Wales, NHS Wales is planning to design, build and then maintain a brand new hospital within the next ten years. It is a policy, an idea and a target that will happen. But they need to know how.
We hope to have a spokesperson from Welsh Government outline policy and set the scene before we ask you to deliver a best practice solution for Wales’s newest hospital.
Lee Davies, Executive Director of Strategic Development and Operational Planning at Hywel Dda University Health Board will explain the context behind the plans for a new hospital. In what is potentially the biggest investment for the region for years, the hospital must have the environment at its heart, leave a legacy for its community and help improve the factors determining our nation’s health. Our plan is that delegates split into groups or work from tables to answer Lee Davies questions and respond to ‘how do we build that?’ using their own ideas but drawing on inspiration from exhibitors like yourselves.
In the afternoon we will ask exhibitors to staff their stands as expert providers of advice as our delegates work in small teams to respond to our interactive workshop: West Wales needs a new hospital: how do you build that?
As a delegate, your challenge to is to produce ideas and recommend best practice solutions for the design, procurement and delivery and then ongoing maintenance of the new hospital. As sponsors and exhibitors, you can influence those ideas and decisions. There is scope for speaking, being a panellist and an exhibitor – but interest is keen, and we hope to close the options in the early New Year.
- £1k secures a speaker slot of 10-20 minute, an exhibition space and three free delegate tickets.
- £500 secures an exhibition space and a role as a panellist in one of our discussion sessions
- £300 secures an exhibition space only
Key to this the success of the event is the exhibitors. We hope to have a mix of CEW Award winners demonstrating their category winning projects and ideas, alongside service providers and suppliers like who offer ideas, systems, services and materials.
We believe this session – focussing on a key need for Wales: better healthcare will help set the agenda and the tone for Welsh construction in 2023 and beyond. Please do call or email us for more details.
