TVR has some news and it's BIG. A planned new big factory, that is!
200,000 sq. foot in Ebbw Vale, soon to be echoing to the rumble and crackle of V8 engines as we head towards production. The Welsh Government announced officially in December that the site has been acquired and reports indicate they are moving to get it ready for the business.
TVR is excited by the news. The date for the construction of the factory is to be confirmed, but it is hoped that TVR and its supply chain will apply to become an Exemplar scheme, so we can pursue the design and build process.
The business believes the new factory is more than ample in size to take care of its current and planned requirements as it seeks to expand up to full capacity over the next few years. TVR intend to make the factory an experience in itself – and once open, they will be encouraging all owners, prospective customers etc. to visit and look at what they are doing.
Work has continued dualling the Heads of the Valleys road and this should be virtually complete by the time TVR is in production. A company spokesman commented, "It's a beautiful drive on new tarmac without the usual congestion you might encounter elsewhere...It will provide an easy link directly from our factory to the Midlands via the M50/M5 (no estuary crossing), not to mention our office in Surrey via the M4."
More to come as we have it.
