Siderise completes journey to receiving CCPI mark on all core passive fire protection product ranges

Siderise has successfully completed the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) assessment process for its RH Horizontal and RV Vertical Cavity Barrier for cladding applications, and CT Cavity Tray and EW Cavity Barrier and Firestop for masonry external wall systems. With approval already gained for its CW-FS Firestop range for curtain walling earlier in the year, this means all the company’s main passive fire protection ranges now carry this best-practice mark, providing greater confidence that the information surrounding them is “clear, accurate, up-to-date, accessible and unambiguous.”

To gain a CCPI mark, companies are subject to a rigorous and independent assessment process, which includes assessing that the leadership and business culture aligns with the ethos of the CCPI, as well as providing information and clear evidence of conformance to each of the Code’s applicable eleven clauses. In line with its long-term commitment to ‘integrity in all we do’, achieving CCPI conformance for these core product ranges is just one part of the Siderise’s wider strategy to support accurate specification and a safer built environment. Siderise Technical Director, Lee Nichols, explained:

“Following the introduction of the Building Safety Act and particularly of Gateway 2 for higher-risk buildings (HRBs), we understand that specifiers— whether they are architects, fire engineers or contractors— must feel confident in the information they are using to make decisions and be able to access robust and assessed product data in the format they need. We have aligned getting the CCPI mark for our core products with developing a more holistic specification support package, including creating Specification Packs that summarise the relevant product information for the designated application, and building our partnership with the NBS.”

“By having our core product ranges assessed by the Code, we have not only made a commitment to continuous improvement as the product set remains registered with the CCPI, but we hope to  communicate to our customers that we are actively responding to the challenges they face when it comes to product information —helping the industry to raise its collective understanding of the crucial importance of fire safety and fire testing. ”

Siderise supports local fundraising drive with Men’s Sheds Association

On 11th November 2024, a team of volunteers from our Maesteg headquarters helped the local Men’s Sheds Association to offload a large delivery of Christmas trees*, ready to be sold to raise vital funds for the local group.

Men’s Sheds is a global movement which sets out to create spaces for men to socialise, learn, and create. Whilst not always connected to an actual shed, these community groups provide their members—or ‘Shedders’— with access to tools, workbenches, skills and opportunities to make and mend alongside others. The Maesteg Group’s Christmas Tree sale will help to raise vital funds to help them continue their important work in the local community.

“We are delighted to be supported by Siderise”, explained Phil, one of the organisers and members of the Maesteg Shed. “As a significant local business, it is great that they understand what our Shed is trying to do and that we can work together to better our community—also moving these trees is hard work!”

Kara Bennet Interim ESG Manager at Siderise, added:

“We’ve had a great afternoon working with the Men’s Sheds Association to get the trees offloaded ready for their Christmas homes. The Association is such an important part of our local community, and their purpose and activities also closely align with our own ESG goals

Not only are these groups helping all kinds of people to stay active and connected, fostering better physical and mental health, but they are also a real hub of learning and development. People are sharing their skills and tools with others to deliver local projects with real and wide-reaching social value. They are even using their skills to help reduce local waste, by supporting businesses and individuals to repair or repurpose what they have, rather than buy new.”

We are looking forward to hearing the results of the Shedder’s efforts and working together on other local schemes in the future.

Siderise launches 2-hour rated version of its RH25 Rainscreen Horizontal Cavity Barrier

Siderise RH Rainscreen Horizontal Cavity Barriers  are used to protect building façades around the world. To meet the growing industry demand for fire resistance performance that goes beyond requirements, the passive fire protection manufacturer has launched a new 2-hour rated version of the product, suitable for air gaps up to 25mm.

The RH Rainscreen Horizontal Cavity Barrier has been developed to meet the complex requirements of ventilated cladding systems. The Lamella stone wool barrier includes an integral strip of intumescent material along the leading edge which, when exposed to temperatures > 130°C, exfoliates to close the residual gap and prevent the spread of fire within the time required by the relevant test standard and detailed in our certification. This latest version of the product achieves 120 minutes Integrity (E) and Insulation (I) when tested to ASFP TGD19 (prEN1364-6) ‘Fire Resistance Test of Open State Cavity Barriers’ following the strict furnace controls set by BS EN 1363-1:2020. This performance has been independently assessed and is IFC Certified (IFCC 1712).

As a core product, RH Cavity Barrier also has been put through EOTA TR 024 ‘Type X’ accelerated age testing to confirm its long-term durability. This is the most rigorous category available, replicating exposure to rain, UV, high temperatures, and frost and thaw cycles. This testing has proven it has a 60-year design life.

All Siderise products are also backed by its industry-leading technical ‘wrapper’, designed to support the passive fire safety of projects from initial design to handover with a range of services for design advice, training, and inspection.
