Pentan Wins Prestigious RIBA MacEwen Award 2025 - Innovative Approach to Dementia
Pentan are proud and honoured to have been awarded the prestigious RIBA MacEwen Award 2025 for the Severn View Park care home in Monmouthshire. The award recognises architecture for the common good, that benefits people, and makes the world a better place. Given their values as a practice, they could not be prouder of this achievement.
A national architecture award for Wales is incredibly rare and, in this case, the MacEwen award has never been awarded to a Welsh practice or project before.
The care home for Monmouthshire County Council combines wonderful architecture with a bold, innovative approach to dementia care, unlike anything else they know of. The approach focuses on creating a domestic, non-institutional environment where residents, staff, and visitors can actively engage in daily life without barriers. By prioritising freedom, independence and safety, the design enhances both the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents, shifting the focus towards quality of life.
