Groundbreaking Neurodiversity Training launched for the construction industry
The National Federation of Builders (NFB), in partnership with Interclass, Genius Within, and CITB, is proud to announce the launch of a new Neurodiversity in Construction Training Programme. Designed to build knowledge and skills around neurodiversity in the workplace, this initiative aims to develop a culture of inclusivity within the construction industry.
Richard Beresford, Chief Executive of the NFB, commented:
“The NFB’s Neurodiversity in Construction research report revealed that neurodiversity is largely prevalent amongst construction workers, yet the findings suggested that stigma and barriers still exist. This training offers an important opportunity to create work environments where neurodiverse employees can thrive, enhancing wellbeing and productivity across the sector.”

“This training is all about making sure everyone feels understood, valued, and supported. What makes it unique is that it is specifically designed for the construction industry, addressing its challenges, and giving people practical tools and ideas they can take back to their workplaces.

Neurodiversity in Construction Training
1 in 4 people working in construction consider themselves to have a neurodiverse condition. Understanding and appreciating the unique strengths and perspectives that neurodivergent individuals bring to the workplace is key to creating an industry where everyone is supported, and everyone can thrive.

The programme is divided into two parts: self-paced eLearning courses and interactive in-person and virtual training sessions led by expert facilitators. All elements of this training are completely free for all participants.
eLearning courses
The eLearning courses, expertly crafted by the Genius Within psychology team, are available now through the Supply Chain Sustainability School Learning Pathways. This means you’ll be able to follow a clear, step-by-step learning journey, developing valuable skills to drive meaningful change in your role and organisation.
The learning pathways are now live. To access them you will first need to register for free with the Supply Chain Sustainability School and then, using the links below, enrol in your chosen Learning Pathway.
- Neurodiversity Awareness:This pathway provides foundational insights into neurodiversity, offering an introduction to various neurodivergent conditions, and mental health in the workplace, including guidance on allyship and effective support strategies to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment.
- Neurodiversity for Managers:Designed specifically for managers, this pathway focuses on practical tools to build a neuroinclusive workplace and support neurodivergent team members to thrive. Including strategies for effective communication, implementing reasonable adjustments, and conducting inclusive recruitment practices.
Training Sessions – Now open for booking!
Following the eLearning modules, you can further your understanding by attending additional training sessions led by expert facilitators, including workplace coaches, business psychologists, and neurodiversity specialists.
Both virtual and in-person training options are available for maximum flexibility, so please check the format and timing of each session to find what works best for you. Spaces are limited, so we encourage early booking!
We recommend completing as much of the eLearning as possible before attending the training sessions. This will help you engage more fully in the workshops and discussions.
- Neurodiversity Awareness Workshop (3 hours) - Building on the eLearning, this workshop provides an in-depth look at neurodiversity in the workplace with presentations, case studies, group discussions, and interactive activities.
- Lunch and Learn Session (1.5 hours) - This shorter lunchtime session covers the core concepts of the Awareness Workshop in a concise and interactive format, with a Q&A session.
- HR and Leadership Workshop (3 hours) – Tailored for HR and leadership roles, this workshop provides strategies for creating neuroinclusive teams and supporting neurodivergent employees. Participants will learn practical ways to design inclusive tasks and workspaces to help every employee perform at their best.
