CEWales Newsletter July 24

We would usually expect a quieter season over the summer months, but following our awards, our work programme and Welsh Government briefings have remained jam packed.

At the end of June, we held a North Wales Construction Summit in Llandudno Junction. It was a hugely informative event with over 80 construction sector leaders in attendance, including CEWales’ members. Jeremy Miles MS, (the then) Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy & Welsh Language and Ken Skates MS, (the then) Cabinet Secretary for North Wales & Transport both gave the opening addresses and held lengthy Q&A sessions. We heard about Ambition North Wales’ impressive programme of work, Welsh Government Officials gave presentations on the Building Safety programme, Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme, Fair Work Procurement, the Wrexham Gateway shared with us the ambitious programme and drive on economic investment, SME Business Perspective from Wynne Construction and a Civils Business Perspective from CECA Wales. The event was a perfect way to reinvigorate our activity in North Wales and we are in the process of planning a site visit and informative event in September. Watch this space and do get involved with CEWales North Wales Best Practice Club to be a part of these opportunities.

We continue to work for you on the issues you tell us about, including creating framework efficiencies and visibility of pipeline. We are working with Welsh Government on a forthcoming Circular Economy hotspot and providing insight and intelligence on Offshore Wind. We have noted there is significant work on offshore energy and wind in Wales with supporting infrastructure (roads, buildings etc) needed on land. As ever, if you have any insight around offshore wind and energy for the Welsh Construction Sector, any built environment projects that you think make use of sectoral innovation to support offshore wind and energy please share with info@cewales.org.uk

Whilst doing this latter work we share with you some links we have found pertinent and informative…..
