Your home is the biggest asset you own and the current raft of energy efficiency funding and forthcoming Green Deal offer the opportunity to retrofit improve its energy efficiency.  However, we need to ensure that the most appropriate retrofit solutions are chosen for Welsh properties.

Wales has the oldest building stock in the UK and the largest proportion of terraced homes in UK, currently at 40% of the homes.  According to current estimates 80% of the 2050 building stock is here now, and 28% of this 2050 stock will be terraced homes.

This event gives an overview of the STBA “Responsible Retrofit of traditional buildings*” report and an overview of the forthcoming WLZCH retrofit toolkit. The toolkit has been designed to provide guidance to those considering retrofit options to enable them to understand what options are appropriate to their type of property and where the risks lie. Colin King, WLZCH and John Edwards, Cadw, Welsh Government, will be presenting.

* by definition, a traditional building is one constructed before 1919
