Aleena is making a mark in the political and environmental field in Wales as the youngest commissioner on the National Infrastructure Commission for Wales (NICW), where she assists Welsh Government (WG) and influences agencies on the longer term (5-80 years) infrastructure needs of Wales.
As co-lead of the NICW Renewable Energy project and chair of the Project Advisory Group, Aleena is challenging the ‘business as usual’ approach to infrastructure provision by focussing on providing WG with radical recommendations for the deployment of Renewable Energy infrastructure in Wales to help achieve Net Zero Wales by 2050.
It is important to Aleena to challenge societal norms for this environmental sector by seeking opportunities and actively contributing to diversity and inclusivity in Wales by taking on leadership and mentoring roles at strategic organisations. She is formerly board member of Taff Housing, Vice Principle of her ‘Formula 1 in Schools Regional Championships’ team, contributing to the team ultimately being awarded “The Judges Discretionary Award”, and currently the Chartered Institute of Transportation & Highways Wales ED&I regional lead.
Aleena co-leads the AtkinsRéalis ‘UK & Europe Transportation Early Careers Forum’ and the ‘UK & Europe Graduate Leaders Forum’, actively engaging with senior leadership to represent the Early Careers and Graduate community.
