G4C Wales Highly Commended - Katie John

Katie started working for Andrew Scott Ltd (ASL) in June 2017 as an Administration Assistant to the Estimating department. With her foot in the door, she always had ambitions to go further in the company and proved herself to be driven and hard working. She proactively worked outside of her role and provided additional support to the pre-construction team assisting with tenders and bid writing, and after a few years she worked with the wider team including the CSR Manager delivering community and educational engagement events. This is where Katie thrived, putting her communication and positive energy in to play to benefit others and positively promote ASL and the construction industry. As a result of this Katie was asked to provide maternity cover for the CSR Manager in 2019 and again in 2021, which she managed exceptionally well with positive feedback from ASL management and client teams. Katie was then promoted to Social Value Lead, where she continues to deliver excellent results and exemplar sustainability outcomes.

Vale CRW Ltd

Vale CRW (Concrete Repairs and Waterproofing) was founded in September 2019 by Dylan Pritchard, Kerry Collier, Brett Edwards, Gareth Howells and Chris Gregory. Having worked for a number of different contractors in varying fields of construction and civil engineering we decided to form a construction firm concentrating on concrete repairs and waterproofing.

From the formation of the company in September 2019 the company has steadily grown and  is now made up of 4 of the original directors and 10 employees who all have a drive to see the company grown further and succeed on all projects that they work on.

As the company has grown and taken on more complex projects, so to have the directors. We have obtained Constructionline Gold status allowing us to tender for schemes with the larger main contractors, we have also become versed in contracts and payment terms as we have negotiated the world of subcontracting.

Working within various fields allows Vale CRW to diversify and explore various opportunities, from Main contractors as developers as well as private contracts and being brough in as a specialist via structural engineers.
