Mentor of the Year
Winner – Luther Jim, DB3 Architecture

Luther has established a great relationship with the RSAW to really celebrate and support the mentoring of students of Architecture in the local Universities.

Luther has often taken the initiative to find means of providing further support to the junior staff members across the 7 offices of DB3 through the DB3 Academy, sharing his past experience, work and resources to assist them with their studies.

Luther’s approaching to mentoring is one based on care. He continually seeks to help and provide guidance to students and junior staff, often collecting more resource, broadening his own knowledge base, and always going above and beyond for his students. He challenges the existing university teaching methods and draws on his own past experience to provide his students with clear and well founded guidance.

Trainee of the Year
Winner – Adam Platts, Kier Construction

Adam stands out as an exceptional individual due to his exemplary embodiment of the essential qualities of a Site Manager, such as effective communication, organisation, strategic planning, adept problem-solving, diligent budget management, and an unwavering commitment to safety. His proactive involvement and significant contributions to Kier's team have accelerated his integration within the company to the point where he operates with the competence and confidence of an experienced Site Manager rather than a Trainee/ Industrial Placement student.

Adam's natural inclination for seeking new challenges and his innovative approach to enhancing efficiency on-site—especially through tools like Holobuilder, Procore, Bluebeam, and Excel progress markups—have not only added immense value to the project he has worked on, but also underlined his indispensable role in informing our Target Programme. His ability to independently resolve issues and even impart knowledge to others is evident in accomplishments such as our brickwork subcontractor winning a Quality Award following Adams extensive supervision, guidance, and attention to detail.
